DIY Beaded Flowers and Necklace Making Tutorial

Today, you will learn how to make small units of flower that you can use to make a necklace. What is fun about the small units of beaded flower is that not only you can use it in necklace making, but you can also use it to make bracelets and earrings.

The necklace consists of approximately 18 small units of beaded flower and a pendant with Shamballa teardrop beads.

To create the pendant, you can follow the steps in the article, How to Make Your Own Earrings with Shamballa Teardrop Beads

Prepare the following materials:

Step 1:

Prepare nylon thread measuring 24 inches of with both ends inserted with beading needles. Remember to leave about 1-inch tail.

Step 2:

String 4 seedbeads with your right needle. Slide the beads to the center of the thread.

Step 3:

Cross your left thread into the last seedbead. You have 4 seedbeads.

Step 4:

On your right thread, slide in a bicone, pearl, and bicone. Cross your left needle into the last bicone on the right thread.

Pull the thread. You have created 1st unit.
Step 5:

Create the 2nd unit. Pass the left thread into the seedbead next to the 1st unit and pull the thread.

Step 6:

On your right thread, insert a pearl and bicone. Cross left thread into the bicone from the right thread. Pull thread and you have created 2nd unit.

Step 7:

For the 3rd unit, pass the left thread into the seedbead next to the 2nd unit. On the right thread, insert a pearl and bicone.

Cross left thread into the bicone on the right thread to form the 3rd unit.

As you can see, the 4th unit is going to share the bicone from the 1st unit as well as the 3rd unit.

Step 8:

Pass the left thread into the seedbead and bicone. Now, you only need 1 pearl to complete the 4th unit.

Step 9:

On your right thread, insert a pearl then cross the left thread into the pearl then pull the thread.

Now, you have 1 small flower.
Step 10:

To tighten the structure, pass the needle into the pearls for 1 to 2 rounds. You will see that after tightening the structure, you have created a 3D flower.

Continue to pass the thread into the bicones, following the weaving pattern to tighten the whole structure.

Finish the structure by making 2 knots then cut off excess thread. Repeat the steps to make 18 or more small flowers.

Step 11:

Construct the pendant. Open a jump ring using 2 pliers. Insert the jump ring in between 2 pearls then attach the teardrop bead.

Note: Again, to create the 6 unit beaded flower for the pendant, you can follow the steps found here: http://handmade-jewelry-club.com/2016/08/how-to-make-your-own-earrings-with-shamballa-teardrop-beads.html

Close the jump ring and your pendant is completed.
