Beginner Tutorial on How to Make Wire Jewelry

Learn how to make bangles with simple wirework techniques. This beginner tutorial on how to make wire jewelry will teach you basic wirework skills. No need for any special wirework technique, but just stringing beads on wire, making loops and attaching clasp will do!

Materials:
20ga wire
Space bars
0.4mm diameter round pearls
Clasp with 2 loops or hooks on each side
Jump rings
Tools:
Wire Cuttter
Chain or Flat Nose pliers
Round Nose pliers

Cut 2pcs 8 inches 20ga wire.

Take one 8 inches 20ga wire and bend the wire at 0.8cm mark from the tip of the wire.

Step 3:

Using your round nose pliers, make a loop then repeat from Step 1 and do the same for the other 8 inches 20ga wire.

Slide in 2 round pearls on each wire.

Note:
You may need to straighten the wire so the pearls will easily slide. You can use nylon jaw pliers if you have one or simply use a cloth to grip the wire and straighten it.

Then slide in a spacer bar.

Step 6:

Repeat Step 4 & 5 and repeat the pattern until you reach your desired length.

Step 7:

After reaching your desired length make a loop cut the extra wires, leaving 0.8cm tail end. With your round nose pliers, grip the end of the wire and turn your wrist either towards you or away from you, whichever you’re comfortable with. Make a full turn until you make a loop. Repeat this step for the 2nd wire.

Take a bracelet mandrel or any round object, about the size of your wrist and start shaping the bangle.

Step 9:

When you’re done shaping the bangle you’re now ready to attach the clasp. Open one loop and hook your clasp connected by a jump ring.

how to make wire jewelryFor the other end, you can attach the clasp without using jump rings.
Voila! You have your Sparkling Spacer Bar Bangle! Look at the clasp. If you choose a really stylish clasp it can serve as focal bead as well.
