Peyote Stitch: Amber Rays Earrings Tutorial

Peyote Stitch is one of the favorite beading techniques amongst beadweavers. It’s not that hard to understand. Though at first it may look difficult but when you get to familiarize yourself with the basics of Peyote Stitch you’ll definitely love it!

I love using Peyote Stitch, especially for bezeling. It’s a really great beading technique to bezel cabochons. There are also other beading techniques that you can use to bezel but Peyote Stitch is the most used beading technique.

It was a long wait for me to have my cabochons and when they finally arrived I didn’t waste any time. Immediately I got my thread, 11/0 and 15/0 seed beads, and voila! I had a beaded bezel round cabochon that looks like a sun to me 🙂

I figured since the bezeled cabochon now looks like a sun the next best thing to do is create sun rays.

With a few graphs and tryouts, trying to see if the beads will fit.

Finally, I had it all done and I was so happy with the finished piece 🙂

Now, this is definitely going to be an earring piece. I thought of attaching a jump ring and then the ear wire but I’d like the piece totally beaded from start to finish and I don’t want to see any metal while looking at the facade of the earring. Using Peyote Stitch and inspired by Sara Spoltore’s tutorial for making post beaded earring I created ear post covers.

Then with right angle weave attached it onto the bezeled cabochon.

Tadaah! 🙂 Looks like sun rays! I had fun creating the earrings and I sooo love it!

Is there a material list, or ,at least, cabochon’s measures?
