Someone sent us a message asking help on how to Flat Herringbone Stitch. We hope this article is of help. 🙂
Flat Herringbone Stitch is a fast way to build up your beadwork. I find it similar to Ladder Stitch because you also add 2 beads at a time, but unlike with Ladder Stitch, you don’t have pass the thread back thru every 2 beads you add. Since with Herringbone you are continuously working with 2 beads you must always have an even number of beads.First you start with the Ladder Stitch. This will be your base or foundation. (You can go visit this LINK if you don’t know the Ladder Stitch
Shown in red colors, add 2 beads and lay it side by side then weave the thread down thru the 2 beads from the 1st row shown in blue.
Add again 2 beads (red) and pass the thread down thru the 2 beads from the 1st row (blue. Keep weaving in this manner until you have build up your 1st 2 rows as your base/foundation.
To end the 2nd row and start a 3rd row, add again 2 beads then bring the thread down into very last bead from the 1st row and weave back into the previous bead still from the 1st row. Make a curve and weave back up into the last bead you just added. Now you thread is coming out of the last bead and ready to start your 3rd row.
Repeat how you weaved the 2nd row.
At this point, you will start to notice that the beads are now in its slanting position. Just repeat the weaving pattern and that is how you do the Flat Herringbone Stitch.
Exciting, isn’t it? Once you’ve tried it, you’ll get the hang of it and you’ll do amazing designs with the Flat Herringbone Stitch.
