DIY How to Wire Wrap A Cabochon Tutorial

Cabochons are truly a magnificent material when it comes to jewelries.

Most cabochons are made of precious stones. Sometimes they’re made of plastic material and some crafters make their own cabochons from polymer clay.
Since cabochons don’t have holes they’re usually bezeled and used as pendants. They can either be bezeled through beading techniques but more often you’ll see them wrapped in wire.
I’ve never tried wire wrapping a cabochon as I’m more of a beadweaver, but just show you, here is what my cabochon looks like 🙂

So, going back to wire wrapping and cabochons here are some tutorials that I’ve sourced out how to wire wrap a cabochon. These tutorials are suitable for intermediate skills but anyone can try them out.

Her Wire Bezel Tutorial has a simple design, with minimal wire decorations that will make any cabochon still the center piece.

A Hungarian blogger, I Am Creative took a different approach and created a unique foundation for wire wrapped cabochons. Her turquoise pendant was bezeled by making a spider web at the back of the gemstone.

Spiraled wires were created at the front to hold the turquoise.
